Step 1: Fill a 100 ml bowl completely with water and empty the calcium acetate test tube into it.

Edible Polymer step 6 Step 2: Stir the Solution and fill the transparent glass with water as shown in the video.

Step 3: Empty the Sodium Alginate test tube and let it rest for 24 hours.

Edible Polymer step 8

Step 4: Pour the sodium alginate solution into the bowls and add vanilla essence as well as food color.

Edible Polymer step 11

Step 5: Pour calcium acetate into a transparent bowl.

Step 6: Pipette out Sodium alginate and add drops into calcium acetate solution.

Edible Polymer Step 12

Step 7: Strain out the sodium alginate and you have your edible polymer.

Edible Polymer Step 13

Step 8: You can even use the polymer as an ice cream topping.

Working Principle of Edible Polymer :

Edible Polymer, a form of polymer which one can actually be used for edible purposes. It is prepared by using calcium acetate and sodium alginate solutions prepared in water. Here, calcium acetate acts as an activator agent for colored sodium alginate balls. Edible polymer can be used as an ice-cream and cup-cake topping and can also be directly consumed. It is different from worm slime as calcium acetate is used to make this polymer which makes it edible.
